Immune therapy is changing the way we treat cancer – and the way we think about cancer. The project support we’ve received from Cancer Research Trust NZ has been crucial in allowing us to examine human cancer tissue in new ways. We’re now able to look at tissue that is routinely collected in hospitals, and visualise what the immune cells are doing in the tissue. By studying how the immune cells interact with other cells in the cancer tissue – and how these interactions change during treatment – we hope to determine which kind of immune therapy is best for each patient. The support of Cancer Research Trust means NZ can stay on the crest of the new wave of cancer therapy.
