The Trust comprises six trustees representing Genesis Energy and medical, strategic and business aspects of Oncology who meet regularly throughout the year.
The key objectives of the trust are the promotion of cancer research and palliative care services and assistance with the provision of training and development.

Brian Corban CNZM, QSO is a professional company director, lawyer, business and community leader. He has experience in successfully leading companies through restructuring and deregulatory changes in the television, telecommunications, transport and electricity sectors. He is currently Chairman of Genesis Energy, Chairman of the Melanesian Mission Trust Board, Chairman of Ngatarawa Wines, chairman of a number of private companies and trustee of various community trusts. In 2000 he was appointed a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (F.Inst.D) in New Zealand and in 2001 Brian was appointed a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management.

Albert Brantley, Bsc, P.Geol, F.AuSIMM is the Chief Executive of Genesis Energy. Albert is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction for all of Genesis Energy’s business interests. When he took over the reins at Genesis Energy he was mildly surprised to find he was also the Chairman of a cancer charity. However, it was not long before he came to appreciate the value of the unique and effective three-way relationship between Genesis Energy, its customers and the Genesis Oncology Trust. Albert is also Chairman of Energy Online (a Genesis Energy subsidiary), and is a director of the Gas Industry Company. His background has largely been in heavy industry, including oil and gas infrastructure development as well as the mining and power sectors. He has had more than 35 years experience both in New Zealand and internationally in technical, operational and senior management positions, concentrating particularly in the power industry over the past decade. He has had considerable experience leading businesses requiring political, regulatory and environmental management, both in New Zealand and overseas.

Maureen Shaddick, LLB, BA, is the General Counsel and Company Secretary of Genesis Energy and is responsible for the provision of legal services and governance support to the Board and the business. She was involved in the establishment of the Genesis Oncology Trust and has been a Trustee since 2003. Maureen has over 20 years experience as a commercial lawyer in New Zealand and overseas working in private practice and industry. Other governance roles include chairing school board of trustees and currently being a board member of Netball Counties Manukau and a director of Greater Auckland Netball Limited.

Dr John Gavin BDS, DDS, PhD, DSc, DSc (Honoris Causa), FRCPath, FRCPA(Hon) is Emeritus Professor of Experimental Pathology at the University of Auckland and former Executive Director of the New Zealand Cancer Control Trust which worked in partnership with the Ministry of Health to develop and co-publish The New Zealand Cancer Control Strategy (2003). He is the author of over 200 research papers and in 2007 was awarded his fourth doctorate, an honorary doctor of science degree by the University of Otago in recognition of his contributions to scholarship and research. An honorary life member of the Cancer Society of New Zealand, he has been involved with many agencies which provide funding for health research including the Medical Research Council, the Cancer Society, the Dental Research Foundation, and the Deafness Research Foundation.
Dr Ann Richardson MB ChB, Dip Obst, Dip Com H, PhD, FNZCPHM, QSO is an epidemiologist and public health physician with a particular interested in cancer screening in the fields of breast, cervical and bowel cancer. Ann has held academic posts in the Department of Public Health and General Practice at the University of Otago, Christchurch campus and is now working as a public health physician in the areas of information and capacity building, and chronic disease prevention at the public health unit of the Canterbury District Health Board. Ann is also a member of the GOT Assessment Committee where her expertise is invaluable.
Betsy Marshall BA, MA, QSO is the Executive Director of the New Zealand Cancer Control Trust. She has worked in the field of cancer for over thirty years and has served on numerous national advisory committees, Ministerial reviews and working parties relating to cancer screening. In 2001 she was the Cancer Society of New Zealand representative and witness at the Gisborne Cervical Screening Inquiry. Betsy was a member of the Cancer Control Steering Group that developed The New Zealand Cancer Control Strategy and a member of the secretariat of the Cancer Control Taskforce. In 2005 she was a plenary speaker on the development of the New Zealand Cancer Control Strategy at the first international Cancer Control Congress. In 2002 she was awarded the Queens Service Order for Community Service.
