Professional Development Awards
To allow established cancer researchers and cancer care professionals to travel and participate in advanced training programmes or scientific meetings that will enhance their professional competence or extend their range of skills.
Two Professional Development Award rounds are run each year. The maximum individual value of each grant in the Professional Development Award grant rounds is $3,000 and is primarily intended to cover conference travel or special training. Outcomes of the April Round will be announced in late May, and outcomes of the August round in mid-late December. Retrospective awards will not be made so please don't apply for funds for travel or training that take place before the outcome dates. Apply through our online portal.

Professional Development Event Award
The purpose of a Professional Development Event Award is to fund the travel and accommodation of a distinguished overseas speaker to a New Zealand based conference, or to support a training course in the field of cancer. The application should be made by the chair of the local organising committee.
Two Professional Development Event rounds are run each year. The maximum individual value of each grant in the Professional Development Event grant rounds is $5,000 and is primarily intended to cover conference travel or special training. Outcomes of the March Round will be announced in early May, and outcomes of the September round in early December. Special Purpose Grants
Contributions toward research and development, or activities that will improve the quality of cancer care in New Zealand. Projects may be in the field of cancer-related public health, or the biomedical, clinical, epidemiological or psychosocial aspects of cancer. The maximum award is $80,000. Postgraduate Scholarships
Intended to allow a Masters or Honours graduate student to undertake a maximum of three years study towards a doctorate degree in a cancer-related field. The stipend value is $35,000/year plus University fees for an approved course. Projects may be in the field of cancer-related public health, or the biomedical, clinical, epidemiological or psychosocial aspects of cancer. Apply through our online portal.

Murray Jackson Clinical Training Fellowship (Medical)
The Clinical Training Fellowship will be awarded to a medical graduate committed to a clinical career with a major involvement in cancer medicine. It is intended for oncology specialists so that they can enhance their practice and expertise through further clinical training and research and thus contribute to improved patient outcomes in New Zealand. The Fellowship may be combined with advanced clinical training in cancer medicine, and the research component should normally be at least 50%. The expectation is that at the end of the Fellowship the successful applicant will become established in clinical practice in New Zealand. Apply through our online portal.

Clinical Fellowship for Cancer Nurses
This Fellowship will be awarded to a nurse who is committed to a clinical career with a major involvement in cancer treatment or care of those affected by cancer. It is intended for nurses so that they can enhance their practice and expertise through further clinical training and/or research and thus contribute to improved patient outcomes in New Zealand. The expectation is that at the end of the Fellowship the successful applicant will become established in clinical practice in New Zealand. The duration of the Fellowship is up to two years. John Gavin Postdoctoral Fellowship
Fellowships are intended for the support of outstanding graduates who have recently completed a degree at doctoral level and who propose to conduct research in scientific fields of relevance to cancer control. The purpose is to provide personal support for two years of research, usually to widen their experience in a different institution. The expectation is that at the end of the Fellowship they will become established as independent researchers in New Zealand. Projects may be in the field of cancer-related public health, or the biomedical, clinical, epidemiological or psychosocial aspects of cancer. Apply through our online portal.
